About:

I am an artist and a toy maker from Turkey living in Berlin. As the son of a traditional wooden toy maker in Ankara, I had an upbringing filled with craft and I trained in oil painting at a young age.

The woodworking techniques I learned from my father provide me with the framework and the tools to create my visions. They are woven into my story through which I explore themes of personal and collective memory, human intimacy, intercultural interaction and masculinity.

Wood to me is a grounding material close to what humans are made of: it is warm, natural, imperfect and carries the mark of time within it. Like us, the trees are a product of their environment yet each have their own character and quirks.
